another macro shot using the reverse ring , used an off camera flash this time which has improved things a bit but still struggling with very tiny dof , have tried to blend 2 layers of focus , think this is some kind of flying ant very small , head was about 3mm max . This thing was moving very slow when i caught it and was alive at time of shot , but did croak after this set of pics Sad dont think flash helped , but hey its an ant , thanks for looking ,Kel

A brilliant shot, Kel - don't feel too bad about being this ant's Grim Reaper!!SmileSmileWink
A 'post-croak' shot might have been easier!!Smile

It's a superb macro shot Kel, the detail in the eyes is incredible, sorry to hear it expired after you had photographed it, but died honourably for the cause of a good image! Stunning.

I great image,
I just like a bigger DOF.
Can not see an F stop reading on your info.
If you take a F22 Marco DOF will be no greater than 2cm.
With extension tubes on it will become smaller than that.

Well done..

Great angle and the lighting on the compound eye is excellent. I think you just need to get a programme that focus stacks effectively as we discussed on the phone.
