Selfridges

By DicksPics
Taken in Birmingham last week - I rather like this building but, I'm sure will opinions vary!
It would be interesting to return when it's dark to see how it is illuminated and what effects the surrounding lights have.
I may have a 'play' with these images to see what effects can be created at some time.
Many appreciative thanks for all views, clocks and comments on my 'Looking Up at Birmingham Library' upload!Smile
And special thanks to Quoise, Helen(helenlinda), Pamela(pamelajean) and Carol(Caziwinkles) for their treasured UAs!SmileSmileSmileSmile
Have a good Tuesday.
Richard

Good shots.

This is an excellent architecture photography, Richard ! Minimal design with the use of singular quality materials characterize this beautiful building that is observed and captured perfectly by you! I like the textures, the geometry and the beautiful distribution of the light in these images!

George

I am fascinated by this building despite never having actually seen it in the physical, both images definitely have merit, but V2 captures my heart Wink.............. and yes, I would definitely like to see an image of it illuminated, look forward to seeing your upload of it.

Like both Richard and you could spend some time with Hue Saturation and Luminance sliders for great effects.

I am an ex-Birmingham person. Knew the old ‘Bull Ring’ and the old open markets.
My great grandfather had a stall there.
Use to catch the Midland Red bus to Shirley where we lived. Going by the old Birds custard factory
and a sweat shop where Mother used to buy boiled sweets…
Thanks for the memory Richard your series is interesting in seeing the modernizations.

They both, but particularly, V2 become strong abstractions.

An impressive building indeed and I don't think I have disliked any picture that I have seen of it.
Wonderful repeats and sensual curves.
I agree with Trev, it makes my eyes go funny when I scroll up and down on these two images.
I favour V2 for the more abstract style and the frame-filling circles.

V2 is the shot for me , this building is a great find Richard and your right about revisiting it in a different light I'm imaging it at dawn or maybe a long exposure on some moving clouds , load of possibilities , but if you don't get there again ( I'm sure you will the way you move around ) you have taken a great shot of it in v2 and most importantly in my book something different , cool stuff Richard , regards Kel
