I need a lighter camera!

By Tynnwrlluniau
Hi all
My first upload in quite a while following one of those hectic, stressful times we all experience now and again. I suffered to get this 13 shot stitched pano. It cost me two blackened toenails, bumps and bruises and aches and pains in office-softened muscles I'd forgotten I had. However, the view from Glyder Fach made it all worth while. The lake on the lhs third is Llyn Bochlwyd with the darker horizontal band of Llyn Ogwen beyond. Light falls on the slopes of Pen Yr Ole Wen while the peak of mighty Tryfan is also illuminated mid-shot. If I had been braver / younger I would have camped on the shattered plateau of Glyder Fach in order to catch the sunset behind me and a view of Snowdon but carrying all my gear including a long lens nearly finished this 52 yr old off anyway Grin
Thanks for looking and hope you all have a great weekend.
Alun

Many thanks. I've often thought that this location would be a great place to camp but I may need to hire a helicopter to get up there again otherwise I could need to call acyellow one to get back down! Seriously though, this would be a very demanding winter challenge requiring ice axe and all the gear. I was blessed with a wonderfully mild mid November day but still had to negotiate some tricky terrain by the light of my headtorch on the way down.
Many thanks to Sandy and Phil for their UA's - much appreciated.

Superb mountain photography Alun. Beautifully composed and well exposed. In my younger days I used to lug a Pentax67 up the hillls with a heavy tripod. Couldn't do it now. I'm thinking of investing in the sony a7 for mountain work now!

Thanks again. I enjoy taking images with stitched panos in mind. Software has really moved forward although 700mb shots make the old pc shudder and cough a bit. Many thanks to Netta, Paul and Richard for their UA's - V. much appreciated.

The end result makes up for the difficulty and injuries sustained: easy for me to say sitting in a warm room at the Mac.
But what a fabulous panorama covering so much of this mountain scenery.

Tremendous image of this prehistoric looking Welsh mountain, I've never been up here where you were, but I was down by the Lynn Bochlwyd. From down there this mountain looks very much like a prehistoric monster.

Tremendous work my friend.

Changing camera was just the aching muscles talking, Phil :0) the Mk III is a wonderful camera and a privilege to own and use. Can't see me changing but I need to get fit if I ever want to get up that high again.

I know what you mean about the weight, I complain carting similar gear around London (although I am 7/8 yrs older!). My days of climbing Snowden et al in the dark are well behind me. You might be tempting me with images like this though but I think I'd need a bit of practice at the stitched panoramas first.
