Can photographs be theatrical? In a sense yes, if this is the proof, and especially if we can embroider on the word "remembrance." Obviously, one would qualify this shot as staged,and from here on develop all its visual elements. I would single out its colour attributes, which refer to the period only through its artifice (much like Proust's madeleine). We also have two other elements to play with, the subject's youthful contemporary appearance (her hair style does not seem to belong) immediately denied by her clothing. The play unfolds through the loss so personified. A beautifully "staged" tribute to what happened on D Day, on the Normandy beaches. I won't mention the composition, it is so good... Cheers, Paul
