Vulnerability

By colin
Yet another from my recent studio session. This my daughter Kirsteen giving me a vulnerable look. Acting school seems to be working, doesn't it?

Hi Colin, great shot. I love the composition on this - it really draws focus to the eye, which is very sharp and intense. The framing with the hair and collar kind of reminds me a bit of manga artwork, so I've done a quick mod to push that a little. I've intensified the contrast and saturation with curves in Photoshop and smoothed and blown out the skin a little to make the eye stand out a little further (maybe a little "rabbit-in-the-headlights-ish?") Please excuse any rough edges!

Hey Colin, this series looks great. The quality looks to be very high and you are using light in a good way. I'm no expert but it looks good to me.

Yes, this works for me despite my knowledge of portraiture being zero. The Mod is the result of my affection for mono.

Another piece of creative portrait photography, the sharp eye works a treat. Enjoyed this shot very much.

Dave.
