To be honest - the main ingredient was a sound original photograph shot with the angle. The image was then manipulated (large parts removed - as with most lighthouses thee were a lot of outbuildings and I wanted to isolate the light tower) The final element involved cloning the existing sky and pulling it around the light to give it the effect of emerging from a sea mist.

The alternative would be to shot in real conditions - much more dangerous I fear.
