Magpie

Scavengers, predators and pest destroyers. The Magpie has won few friends though.
Their main diet is invertebrates, such as beetles, caterpillars, spiders, worms and leatherjackets.
During the breeding season though, they will take eggs and young of other birds.
When plenty of food is available, they hoard supplies to eat later. They hide it with grass, a stone or a leaf.
In my shot he is soaking the bread before eating it.

Excellent well timed capture. Beautiful lighting and pin sharp detail.
I've seen them do this in our bird bath as well.

Looks like he's bitten off more than he can chew! Great shot. Thanks for your comment on my dandelion - great shame we consider them weeds. Something to do with the fact they spread seeds absolutely everywhere I guess.
