At The Garvel

By kilo363
My camera club organised an outside portrait session the other night. Portraits is another thing I have little experience of, so this was a big experiment for me. I have uploaded 4 shots that i 'think' are among the better ones I took.

I won't be entering them in any competitions as I don't think they are good enough, but am interested in your comments.

Thanks for looking

The best of these for me, by far, is V2, which is a pleasant well composed and technically competant portrait. In 1 and, obviuosly the mono version, I really don't like her expression - she looks rather annoyed with the viewer - me.

Cant see the point of 3 compositionally, and 4 could be very nice, but is rather unsharp.

Thank you both,

Frank I think you are right, I've revisted that shot andwill upload a different crop tomorrow along with another couple from the shoot

I suppose the expression is a matter of taste, I can see your point though. I do like #2 and will upload a slightly wider crop of that tomorrow. You're right about #4 I wish it was a little sharper, #3 was a just something I tried with the shallow dof and the columns in the background

Portraiture is new to me, so it was an experiment, and a bit rushed really. 3 models and 16 or 17 photographers trying to get the best of the light
