Quote:I trust you know what you are doing.. you have experience..
but don't you think there are too many for a composition and focus..
why not just first 3.. or say 4 now..?
it somehow tests the camera on so many levels..

    Hi Pranav,

I wanted to take the shot with all of them because taking first three or four wouldn't have highlighted the curve that they form. Could you please point out the other levels that you were refering to?

  • Boat by the lake by kimi012

Quote:Nice composition with the curve of the shore and the gap between the 2 "headlands" roughly in line with the boat - although I would crop a bit off the left hand side (about up to where the curve ends). The overall effect is restful.

Contre-jour shots are always going to be high contrast, but have you in fact increased the contrast in post production? This very high contrast might have been the effect you were aiming for - in which case that's your aesthetic choice. Personally I would have liked to have seen a bit more detail in the v bright & v dark areas. Although full sun reflected on water is almost always going to be a bit blown (not necessarily a bad thing). If you had shot in RAW you might have been able to pull out a bit more detail - or perhaps in-camera HDR might have achieved even more. Does the 600D have this feature - worth having a play with it if the camera has it.

Thanks Richard! I usually shoot JPEG, though I agree RAW would have given me much more liberty in the post production. To answer your question, I don't think Canon EOS 600D has HDR.

  • Model on the runway by kimi012

Quote:I like this a lot, I like the way you catch the surrealism of the frozen moment.

Can I suggest that there's a bit too much clutter in the frame, that the result is a bit confused and confusing. I can see several possible crops but the most appealing reduces the frame to the lady and the two white arrows.

    Modification to follow.

Thank you Moira and the modification looks cleaner Smile

I really like this one for the sensual expressions and the body language of the model which is very well complemented by the soft lightning. Smile

  • And Action! by kimi012

Thank you Moira! That was really helpfu and to answer your question, I took this shot from the balcony and it was totally not planned. I saw some kids playing in the park and this boy came in and I took the shot. The settings were to capture the motion of the kids but then it worked well for this shot also.
The 'child in the center' suggestion is particularly good because I too realised that I could have played with the positioning of the child in the frame.
    Thanks again. Smile

  • Solitude interrupted by kimi012

Thank you Pablophotographer! Yes, the man was riding a bicycle and I should have included the bicycle too in the frame. I keep that in mind now when I shoot Smile
The photograph does look better without the Arabian arches.
