This frame was captured a fortnight ago while out birding at my favourite haunt. Its the type of shot that really tests the speed and efficiency of one's gear, as also the capabilities of the person behind the camera, when the bird flies relatively low straight towards you .....
Fortunately enough I was sporting my best gear for this kind of shot, well seated with my elbows supported over my knees, and had sufficient time to prepare for it since I had spotted the duck approaching from quite a distance. Once I had a full lock on the approaching bird speeding towards me, it was all about waiting for the right moment (distance and flight path) to bag the shot ..... a short rapid burst did the rest.
Pretty much impressed with the results, I chose this frame as the best of the lot. Quite a crisp capture considering the bird's speed, with ample head and breast detail in the plumage. Viewing large should look better.
Keep well,
Joe
