Fly Past

By KingArthur
Earlier on this month, one Saturday late afternoon I was doing some bird photography at the Salina mudflats, using my Nikon D7500 plus the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary lens as my primary combo, with my newly acquired first full frame Nikon D610 plus Nikkor 70-300mm lens serving as backup. I had been fiddling with the D610 for an hour or so trying to get to grips with its feel, handling and features bagging a couple of decent shots every now and then - nothing to write home about though, for now at least.

Jolting me, some sudden loud quacking instinctively made me reach out for the D7500 and turn to find this juvenile mallard whirring past me over the creek ..... split-second framing, setting, panning/zooming and shooting in the blink of an eye regaled me with a good burst of sharp, well-centered frames of the mallard in full flight. It is quite amazing that when you get fully accustomed to a particular camera, its handling then just becomes an automatic instinctive extension of your arms in full knowledge (and expectation) of the kind of image you desire achieving - this is currently the case with my D7500, which bond I am thoroughly enjoying.

I chose this particular frame as the best of the burst, being pretty sharp with good detail. I hope you find the capture to your liking, viewing large should yield improved detail and resolution.

Wishing you all a good weekend,
Joe Smile
