Water Skating

By KingArthur
After a lengthy absence, last Saturday afternoon saw me heading back to the Salina mudflats (camera gear and all) in the hope of doing some decent bird photography. The prevailing overcast weather summoned in low evening light relatively early in the afternoon. Notwithstanding, and much to my joy, bird activity around the mudflats seemed quite abundant considering it is late January.

While photographing a few gulls coming in to roost along the banks of the creek, this rather uncommon white Mallard caught my eye as it pitter-pattered in take-off over the surface of the creek seaward bound. It was necessarily a quick grab, set, focus and shoot thing but, all in all, I'm quite happy with the capture after all. Despite the prevailing low light, the D7500's quick focusing and good frame burst enabled me to choose this particular shot as the best in the roll.

Hoping you find the image to your liking, I recommend viewing large to appreciate the beauty of this particular frozen moment in time .....

Enjoy your weekend,
Joe Smile
