Empty room #2

By KingBee
I was both amazed and delighted by the interest shown in yesterday's upload, "Empty room". A big 'thank you' to everyone who looked in (and are still doing so), voted and commented. Special thanks go to both Woolies (Moira and Bill), Arne, Lin, Lory, Dave, Allistair, Allan, Richard, John, another Dave, and finally Daryl for their much-treasured UAs.

Today's image is of another room in the same manor house. On first viewing it is perhaps less dramatic but it is, I feel, no less poignant. What faded grandeur, what sadness (just take in, for a moment, the scraps of wallpaper clinging on for dear life above the fireplace), and God knows how many ghosts.

I'll see what else I can dig up tomorrow or Friday. Meanwhile, check out this link which I should have included yesterday.

an empty room is a story that is over or still waiting to happen

Poignant indeed. How many happy family gatherings were held there, I wonder? It's not hard to imagine the Christmas tree in the corner, or the leather sofa in front of that fireplace...

Great atmospheric and poignant image, I do hope it is going to be restored there's so much history there and beautiful features.

There is such beauty remaining in spite of the neglect. The house is hanging on to life.

A wonderful mixture of shapes and tones - and that's just the brick wall!
We shall most certainly visit when our packed schedule allows. Thanks for drawing our attention to the location.

Beautiful mix of colours, textures and tones in what must have been quite a palatial room in it’s time.

A wonderful capture of this room which in it's day would have been beautiful. Many stories and memories within!

What a lovely room. Even more beautiful in its state of decay (like me Wink). Smile
