may be wrong Kirsten, but think it's a eagle owl?
but then again... you are the expert on birds.
whatever, you did well to get this as was so dark in the enclosure

You are probably right Lillian. I wasn't sure but the long ears made me think is was a long-eared owl. Thinking it had to be a UK bird I didn't even consider eagle owl but looking at the BWC website that is probably what it is. I wasn't sure as they do look a bit similar apart from size and the photo didn't give me any ideas on how big it was. Alas, I have never seen either in the wild.
