Adam & Liz

By kitsch
my son Adam ( well stepson really but that always sounds so forced ) and his fiancee Liz

they were kind enough to indulge me with a bit of a photoshoot while i was visiting them..
wanted to get something a bit different to the normal couply portrait and Liz hates having her photo taken so am especially grateful to her for posing

anyway i tried Smile
not technically brill & yep Liz is in the shade too much here, light behind them etc etc but i rather liked the overall comp & poses

they are both strong characters and talented artists as well as being a lovely couple Smile

thanks for looking and any feedback
jo

I can't put my finger on it but when I saw this I instantly though it sits in the world of classic black and white...something that wouldn't be out of place being discussed on Genius of Photography.
Good to see your ever fresh take on photography.

Jo, great portrait of these two in their environment I presume. I like the non-pleasing intentions of photographer and models. And the EC: wonderful. Cheers, Bert

like it Jo. Glad Pete gave it an EC, as I didn't see the attraction at first, whereas now it starts to really grow on me. As he states, it's hard to put your finger on it, which could be a reason to neglect it and move on. Yet, the things that I - at first - considered as ahums now start looking more and more like they are part of the reason of the attraction of the photo.
Congrats girlie. Might even look better in print, so hopefully POTW (allthough you've got a couple of mighty fine looking ice bears to beat) Smile

Very special indeed, makes me feel like I know them and thier circumstances even though I don't, there is something very nice evolving in your photography and I think you have a natural talent for spotting a good shot, you should get out more often it suit's you, nice one Jo.

I like it very much, I'd have personally preferred to see a little less of the right-hand side, but certainly it's conforming to the rule of thirds and I guess that's why it sits comfortably on the eye.

Wonderful to see this up there at the top of your PF, Jo. I just love their emergence from the darkness and such a natural and comfortable pose. Something about the 'clean' light across the floor makes this sensational in B & W - very well done!

This is great. I'm so glad Pete gave it an EC, sometimes I think simple, classic work gets overlooked. I made a comment on another portrait about how technical precision is not important if you can capture the essence of character, and you've done that here. The first thing this reminded me of, strangely, is David Hockney's painting 'Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy'.

Were this couple to become famous, this would surely be considered an iconic photograph of them, it has the feel of many other iconic environmental portraits, and I feel that's possibly Pete was thinking with his cmment.

Well done.

This composition is well placed. I like how the subjects are out of the way to lead the eye over to the window. This is fantastic! my only suggestion is if the outside of the window could be more interesting, but otherwise class A

I love this one, it reminds me of Hockney's "Mr & Mrs Clark and Percy".

It has a classic 60's feel to it, could almost be a photo of a Rolling Stone and girlfriend, it's fabulous.
