Night Streak

By robincoombes
The magic that is steam at night standing on a station, on a cold frosty night listening for the distant chime whistle then the steady beat of the approaching express and finally the roar and whoosh as it appears out of the night rushing through the station.

Clever image this and an interesting contrast between the "high-tech" zoom blur and old-fashioned train. Good strong colours too and the figure is the icing on the cake. Best chuff-chuff shot I've seen in a while is this.

Great colours and sense of movement produced by the processing.
(Not quite sure why the woman is moving at the same speed as the train(!), but it still looks good).

Extraordinary shot - it's all about speed. What really strikes me is that apart from the number and funnel, which are obviously important, the hardest, sharpest, most tangible thing here is - the steam!!

Haven't commented on your work for ages Robin, but this is another treasure and I couldn't not comment.

The treatment works very well.

Keep up the good work.

Best to forget about any realism in this presentation. Its all about style and what a lot of style it has.
On a duller note Robin; why is the lamp in a different position to my shots ? It looked good in the middle.

What I get from this is the outer elements drawing you in which accentuates the loco bursting out, the smoke giving the motion of the train. The figure gives a static element that grounds it. This all may be pseudish or, alternatively, exceedingly obvious but its what makes it an increadable picture to me. Absolutely brilliant.
