"sung by Little Peggy March 1963"
Number two in my "walk around Gouda" Also this time in the church St. Janskerk. Main picture "Saint Margaret with cross and dragon (by Wouter Crabeth , Gouda, 1562)
Middle part In the lower part, the duchess with behind St. Margaret with cross and dragon. This glass of Duchess Margaret, regent of the Netherlands , who donated this window, has a height of twenty meters.

In 1552 there was a fire place in the St John's Church. Thereafter, the government adopted a plan on how to provide the entire church with stained glass windows.
The oldest windows are thirteen Apostle Glass (ca. 1350-1540 and 1554-1556). Then windows were made between 1555 and 1572, when the church was Roman Catholic, largely by the brothers Crabeth. Thirteen weapon glasses are donated to the church by the city of Gouda in 1593-1594. After the church had become Protestant, the church council twenty years later continued with the glass project. Between 1594 and 1603 nine new glasses were manufactured.
The windows have been restored several times, the last time between 1900 and 1936. Between 1984 and 1989, to exterior mounted protective glass.
Other V's Middle part and lower part of this window and a close up. If you move over the V's you get more info about that picture
