My husband almost trod on this whilst we were walking in the New Forest this week.

Lovely photo - lighting is good. I love the dark autumn colours of the fallen leaves in the background. Mari

You've captured the wonderful delicate gills really well. Reminds me of a parachute.

Wonderful shot, greatly enhanced by backround. Did you shoot this at 6 with interpolation?

photo was taken early afternoon and I was as close as I could get. I have not altered the picture at all.

Good effort Laura.

I've just come to your folio after looking at your latest posting.

Only thing that niggles me is the image is slightly soft. The camera (602Z) has two macro settings on it and you have to try both, setting as smaller aperture as possible to get a bigger dof.

You say you have not altered the pic in anyway - only thing that destracts slightly is the guinness type object on the right. Either crop the pic slightly or clone / darken it a bit in PS etc.

Otherwise a good try.

I did try both, this was the closest I could get. As to it being slightly soft, it was probably due to too much Guiness on the day and had trouble focusing!

Laura - I missed this first time round, glad I found it now. I agree with most of the comments above but I'm not sure I agree with tezza about the softness being a problem. Sure, you could have got it sharper and, maybe, for a botanical illustration it would be important. But, for me, you have captured the transience and delicacy of a fungus like this. I think it is great.
