It reminds me of the heartfelt moment in a film when a couple returns to the site of their honeymoon to rekindle their relationship, but discover they no longer love one another. It's the indistinct scenery and the overly distinct rope (aka noose) in the foreground that does it.

Thanks for all your comments. Ade, I did have the flash on and I changed the exposure slightly but can't remember to what level. It was one of my first ever shots that I took when I got into photography so was pleased with the outcome.

A good shot for one of your first. It leaves plenty for the imagination. Well done.

As and when you start looking for a Digital SLR, you would do well to look at the 20D or 350D from Canon. Both get rave reviews and are not too overpriced, (I am only slightly biased towards Canon, nope very biased) Some good deals on Ebay but watch who you buy from.

A lovely effect with the rope, and again it would be worth just checking that horizion, but that's not a critism, just a suggestion.
