Common Gull by albi

Pipit by chinny

Looks false???? LOL. Dave obviously has a keen eye....or one eye!!!

Great shot mate

Yellow Hammer

Yellow Hammer by chinny

goo dprocessing skills mate making a budgie look like a yellow hammer! A bit of noise reduction and a decent photographer would improve this no end :o)

Bradgate by chinny

HDR is hard to do properly from what I can see. It can either look very good with high dynamic range or it can look surreal and cartoon-like in some cases. Depends what look you're going for as the surreal and cartoon-like look sometimes work very well.

I like this, but a bit more work on the foreground as mentioned would improve it.

And filters??? There's a guy who's very good at landscapes and processing and he just uses blending with 2 exposures. Binned his filters for the majority of shopts. He's doing a talk soon so I'll let you know if you're interested....

Nicely done Chinmeister!!!

Barn Owl

nown surely you are happy with that lump of glass after these shots... that teeny 500 wouldn't have been enough for full frame freddy here!!

Great work Tony

Robin by MandsH

Maybe try upping the levels a bit. This will lift the image a bit and not leave it looking so flat. Trouble with critique is that few people give the technical details which can often help identify any areas of improvement within camera. Nicely composed, exposed well to keep al the colours from bing clipped, so just a bit of post processing and you'll have an improved image. But i'm no expert and it's just my opinion of course :o)

Common Goldeneye

Common Goldeneye by klewis

Excellent quality, detail and processing..spot on. Where was this taken?

Starling by pcjackso

Really nice. Only nit is the perch which has already been mentioned. Sometimes if you ask the birds nicely, they'll move to a more photogenic perch you know :o)

Calibration by albi

Might be losing the blacks a bit in this? Mind you, I'm looking at it on a 30 monitor, so perhaps it's my end LOL... Cracking image though Tony. Lots of quality!! thinking about getting some calibration stuff myself. What made you chose the Spyder over the Gretag Macbeth Eye One Display 2? Same sort of price isn't it?

Oystercatcher by skewey

Very nice image indeed. The whites look really good, but I think reprocessing and concentrating on getting more detail int he blacks would improve this image. Good camera work! Graeme

little robin

little robin by Katrine

Hi Ann-Katrine,
A nice first image but there's a few things you could try next time to improve the image.

If you could have moved to your left slightly and waited until the Robin looked towards the camera, you would have had thelight on it's eye. The catchlight is very important in wildlfie photography. Also, getting a bit lower and shooting at eye level improves bird shots no end. Lastly, try composing it a bit less centrally and leave some space where the bird is looking. There's a bit too much dead space behind the Robin and you could show off the detail more by cropping a bit. Hope you take this constructively, it's a nice shot anyway. Cheers, Graeme
