Black-tailed Godwit

Not particularly happy about the backlighting, but one of the only shots I have of one of these, so I've posted it anyway! Dragging up the dredges of my images now :o)

edit: oops, I ID'd this wrongly as a Bar-tailed Godwit. It is a Black-tailed Godwit!

I had the same problem with the b/g vegetation reflecting the light when I was photographing the Kingfishers the other day, they always land on the perches when the light is crap..Lol.

Nice comp and the colours of the bird look great, also like the light on the beak.

Heard them talked about, seen them in books, never spotted one let alone photographed it. Back lighting can be a pleasant change and I think it is here. Full-on sunlight could have made it too contrasty, so be happy!
