First of all, I'd like to thank Jeff Silvers (cats_123) and Ann Collins (pluckyfilly) for their User Awards on my last upload Pencil Cottage, I'm really chuffed!
Next door to Pencil Cottage, which can be seen on the left in this image, is the Old Thatch Teashop, and this also dates back to the 17th century, being built around 1690. It is believed that it was originally built as two, maybe three, Fisherman's Cottages. By the mid-1800s The Old Thatch became Shanklin's first Post Office, Library, Bookshop, House Agent and Agent for Anchor Life Insurance. In the 1940s The Old Thatch went through another major change when it was converted into a Teashop which it has continued up to the present day.
Can you spot the teapot together with a cup and saucer? No prizes for guessing…
