Yep, absolutely agree with Frank. Often with a shot like this though you have to be quick. I dont now how long the bird was there but its worth it to relax, take as much time as you think you have to compose the shot i.e not too much space behind the bird and take the shot. Elements like contrast etc can be sorted out in production if you dont get it spot on in camera. Maybe a little vignetting around the edges of the image too. Either blur or darken to lead the eye a little to the subject. Paul

I had a go at doing a mod on this image for you, I've replaced the sky as already said it is lacking in contrast, I did this by pasting some sky from an image over the top of this image, created a copy of the background layer which I positioned above my sky layer and erased the section of sky you had, I then altered the contrast of the image using curves, and used the burn tool on the foreground to make it slightly darker and give the image more contrast. I then finally cropped the image to get rid of the space behind the heron and put the heron on the the heron on the thirds line.

Focus-man - Frank - has said it all. Good attempt and difficult to do, but composition wrong and image rather flat and needs more sharpness. Assume, by the image, that it was misty, possibly giving the low contrast.

He will be resting in the boat. Couldn't strike from there.

It is as noted, a humorous shot. I would guess that you didnt intend to mark it for critique, but either way, Ive loaded a quick mod.

Debbies mod is very good.
