Around the World in 28 days- Rome

By ColleenA
Thank you for your continued support and to Maureen, Trevor and CarolAnn for their UA's...also another thank you Ju for her award for Milan...all much appreciated
PM's to follow...
Rome...has so much history and so many wonderful sights...battled to pick a lead image so went with my favourite place to chill and eat after a long day sightseeing...The Piazza Navona...It is built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian, built in the 1st Century AD, and follows the form of the open space of the Stadium. The Ancient Romans went there to watch the "agones"/ games
The versions are some of my other favourite images
Have a great day

At last beautiful Rome. I felt like climbing the Spanish steps turning to the right and going to stay at the pensione that might still exist in Via Sistina. The Colosseum reminded me of a rather ignorant young man who visited Rome and then told my father all about it. He said that it was absolute nonsense that gladiators used to fight in the Colosseum as the floor was just a series of walls and would make it impossible. Sad

Along with Venice, Rome has to be a favourite city of mine, there's so much to see and photograph, it's a photographer's paradise! The fountains in Piazza Navona are especially beautiful Smile Yet another very interesting tour around here, Colleen Smile
