Waiting For Custom.

By lifesnapper
Hi all, and many thanks for your kind comments and votes on my 'Two Day's Of Summer' images, very much appreciated.

Today, a set of images showing a slow return of custom to shops and restaurants in Rochester, Kent. The wonky shop, in the lead, is just as it's seen here. There are supports in the basement to try and prevent it falling further into the alley beside it, but they wont prevent any further slide in business.
When to large old wooden door, which opens out into the alley, is open, there is a gap of about one inch at the hinge end between the bottom of the door and the floor, which increases to around eight inches at the handle end. Smile

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.
All the best to all,

JohnSmile

P.S. Note the masked mannequin in V1. Smile

Great set of picture's very much a sign of the time's, Dave.
Another terrific set

Love the lead

Clearly they're confident it isn't going to fall over any time soon ... not sure i would be

And for 6 you get to take away all that food in a bag

Or for 4 you get a kid (good value!)

Oh and next time you're there John, tell them it's "Fries" (He looks the sort of bloke who would appreciate your constructive comment Grin)

Award winning stuff!

I think I'll go for V9 rather than the tighter crop in the main upload. A very strong double portrait. I hope they make it.

Great set and like Colin I love the lead image. There is something about their faces that says it all in these times...

I remember, way back in the late 60s, buying a red-checked shirt. I thought it was the real deal - after all, I bought it in a boutique. The very first time I wore it, one of my mates compared it to a tea-towel. Needless to say it was never taken out of the wardrobe again...

A fine set or reportage images, John, showing the reality of today for so many small business people, who are hoping they will survive the current situation...

I do hope businesses like these survive. They deserve to. However I am not optimistic. They have already lost so much summer trade and once the weather turns it will be so much more difficult with limited numbers indoors. An interesting set of images.

a very dire time for small restaurant and cafe businesses in many countries, especially in the absence of a lifeline from local or central governments... the owners are concerned they are going to lose their entire life savings, that their entire livelihood is going to be gone...
the lead and v.9 tell the story only too well..

An excellent idea well executed. My personal favourite is V9.

I note that they don't know what two metres means in V7.

Oops, internet glitch meant that I uploaded one of the modifications twice. Sorry.

You have captured the spirit of the times so well in this set, John: and don't that couple in the lead image look as if they are resigned to a long wait before any custom comes their way.
