Guardian of his domain

This early morning shot catches some of the color. I tried to keep this volume down on this, revealing the Heron and the lush marsh grasses but not overwhelming the rest of the scene with the sky. I did a bit more PP work with this than I usually do.

I understand what you are saying about keeping the volume down, but the result on my screen looks a bit underexposed - could you afford just a touch more of drawing the histogram in on the left? The bird is in a very good position in the frame, so we would still notice him even if it were a bit more punchy, and even if you had a little bit of a vignette, too.

Lovely layers of colour in your image.
The heron does look a little lost in such a large landscape.
I've done a mod by cropping into portrait format
and added more contrast and saturation.
Only you and critique team can decide
if it's an improvement.

i kinda like it the way it is. i like, 'discovering,' the bird in the image. =)
