Ural Owl

By Lillian
A wild owl in the forest in Northern Sweden

The government have a program going to have people monitor
all certain breeds of owls and this is one...we were privileged on our first day
to be taken where two were nesting ( in different parts of forest ) and see how they were caught and then
ringed, measured, photographed... The man was so gentle and talked to the bird the
whole time of holding her (she had 3 eggs in her box) amazing devotion..all his spare time
V2 the man talking to her before being released again
They even have the authority to stop trees being felled in the season
but the majority of the country have taken to bird watching due to government encouragement

Thank you for stopping by, appreciated

Lillian

What a great looking owl, good to know the Government is trying to protect them. Two great captures Lillian. Our Landscape gardener at our complex mentioned to me that she was meeting with the Owl society today to discuss putting up owl nests in our huge gardens....I am hoping it's going to happen.

What a beautiful bird.....
not so sure we need to catch them ring them etc.
They have their own life......our knowledge about them won't improve their lifestyle
Can you imagine someone picking you up and putting a metal ring on your leg
No matter how gentle.....
just a thought......Better get back to the cleaning!!!!

It was so interesting Mike to see and the gentleness taken, but it is also taught to the children at school

So wonderful what's going on in Sweden.

Two beautiful captures, Lillian, and that is simply exquisite portraiture in V1. In V1 the owl looks like the sort of scarved lady you see in Matryoshka dolls Smile
