The Edge of the World

By LilyWren
Thanks for all the lovely comments and votes on yesterdays upload. It was pretty special to receive such feedback! I think serendipity had a hand in the photographs taken by the reservoir as I wasn't even planning to go that morning.

This one is also taken from the same time, same place, just giving a wider view. Again it didn't seem to need much post production as the light and fog was just amazing.

It was amazing how sky and water blended and that it did seem to be the edge of the world!

Like the etherial feel of this one too. Especially how the image just fades into almost an abstract gradient to the right of the frame, wih just a hint of the far bank in the mist.

A good example of why it's a good idea to always carry your kit.

Beautiful. This makes me think of the term 'infinity'. It may look good in mono too. That hint of colour in the lower left is a little distracting to me, as it appears to be muddy under the surface.

Thanks for the comments.

I can see what you mean Roger, I had toyed with a mono and will probably try a conversion - although most of my photographs at the moment seem to be mono! I did like the bit of colour at the waters's edge though and suppose I was trying to convey a little bit of earth amidst all the water and the edge of the world.....

But yes, mono not far behind I imagine!

Another lovely image Melanie. I can't make up my mind about the foreground though - it does seem like a competition between that and the fence. I think if you took it out the image would be stronger, but just MHO.

I like the space on the right and the hint of something in the mist.

Love it and think the F/G adds a sense of balance. IMHO

Thanks for the great comments and advice. I decided to do a crop as after advice I was in two minds myself snowjunkie!

Thanks Kath, I was more of this opinion myself and still like the FG. I do like V2 however,to me it makes it a very different photograph with a different message than my original but that's good and I do want to learn more!

A case of less is more, and so much left to the imagination in the atmosphere of this lovely composition.

I like the minimalist feel to this image, the border does seem to overpower the image a little though Smile

Thanks for the comments Smile

I know what you mean Sean, I hadn't noticed it before but I think having the background set as black made the border look even bigger...maybe! I have changed to white and it seems slightly less overpowering I hope Smile
