The purpose of the fly

By littleflea
Another one from my archives - not pretty but interesting. I watched a spider as it glided from a window across to a fence trailing a single strand of web. It then made its way back to the middle of the strand and dropped. The strand was a bit higher than me. Spider continued dropping until it reached the ground where this deceased fly was lying and then attached some web to the fly's legs. The spider then started climbing back up lifting this fly bit by bit until it was dangling about my shoulder height. It tied off a couple of knots and left the fly, returning to the single strand of original web. The spider proceeded to spin its web, round and round. The fly became an anchor. A few weeks ago I saw a small rock dangling from a strand of web. I don't think I want to see THAT spider !! :o)))

Cured for 21 days.
That spider must had been working at a local butcher's shop before visiting your place.
Great detail and story.

If you're going to have an anchor, it might as well be your next meal, it would be a shame to waste all of that energy on anything that wasn't edibleTongue.
