Five Spot Burnet moth caterpillar climbing a grass stem on Collard Hill in the Poldens, Somerset.
Despite a poor early butterfly season, it was god to see large numbers of these short but attractive caterpillars, pupating on grass stems. At only a couple of centimeters long, they are remarkably well patterned.
