Cliff Beach

By louisemorrisonsty
Hey folks.
A HUGE thank you to all that commented on my last upload. You are all so kind. Grin I really have missed this site. Grin anyways as promised a 'proper photo'.
This view is of Cliff Beach in Valtos, Isle of Lewis. Taken in Raw and edited a bit. Used my polarising lens to try and bring out the sky more. I haven't strayed far from the programme function on the camera as the shots I take end up all wrong and all i want is a decent pic. Grin (bad photographer) lol Grin
Anyway please enjoy and any comments welcome. Grin
Have a wonderful day. Grin

The polarising filter did it's job here Lou, a beautiful view with oustanding colour.

There's nothing wrong with Program mode, Louise, as long as it achieves the result that you want. There are those on EPZ who decry reliance on automation, but more fool them. Your camera is festooned with all manner of modes, and you are free to use as many or as few as you like. In time you will learn when you need more control over the aperture or the shutter speed. You have already worked out how to make good use of a polariser. Judging by the tones in the sky, it looks like the sun was off the the left and either well after or well before its zenith - in which case, textbook use. You have also kept the sea horizon level, instead of judging by the lay of the land.. Well done.

A beautiful coastal scene, such a wonderful array of colours. It looks more Meditteranean than the Scottish Isles from the thumbnail

Excellent capture of colour in both sea and sky Louise. You are obviously well on the way to mastering the machine.

Louise I have to admit I had up until recently very seldom left program mode.
I have to say I am enjoying the new doors that it has opened for me by playing in a whole new host of settings. There's always the delete button, the trick is to enjoy it.
