A rather nice image as presented. There is also a nice letterbox shot in there by cropping off all the bottom up to just below the buildings. Not sure the bits of grass were needed.

It probably is the wrong time of day, Keith, but that is not my main issue with the shot. It's more to do with the composition. It is good that you have got the wall in the foreground to anchor the shot. But then you have a large expanse of middle ground where not much is happening. It is true that the river does to some extent act to link the foreground and background, but in my opinion it is not enough to fill in the middle ground. The houses look very distant, the sheep very small. It would have been much better if the sheep had been much nearer and would have given you that bit of added interest.

You have got good depth of field here and the exposure is good (although in my mod I have boosted the contrast by about 15%) so you definitely have the basics right. It's all about training your eye to see what would make a more compelling shot. It takes practice, so good luck!

Thank you cathR, your mod does improve the pic. sad to say the sheep were very poorly trained, and would not go where they were told. Lunevalley
