Arboreal Ambling

By LynneJoyce
I was thinking of the expression 'Can't see the wood for the trees' when it occurred to me that in my daily walks around Hirst Woods I have always photographed the minutiae of flora, tiny fauna, doggy antics or the wider views but never concentrated on the trees themselves. So this post is to rectify that.

I chose the opener because of the gimmicky presentation (more images on bark later) and because it gives the most striking thumbnail. It also demonstrates how well managed Hirst Woods is as a haven for wildlife as do the many fallen trees and cut down logs that are moved away from pathways then left to provide natural habitats.

To those of you who have remarked in the past that you prefer to see the whole tree, well that is impossible in a tree crowded woodland like this. None of the trees are completely isolated but all have their individual charms, parts of which you can see here. In this post they are also enhanced by the lovely, very early morning light (I'm usually there by 07.00) and the vibrant Spring green of the new leaves.

Thank you for viewing and I hope that you enjoy the products of my arboreal ambling.

This is a set of well thought out and exposed images, well presented and all composed in your own way and that is how it should be. I cant say what is best because that would break up this fine set, but what I can say is they are all wonderful..John

You were not the only one checking out the wood on the trees. What a good idea to think about what we don't usually think about. If that makes any sense. A great set, shows us what a lovely woods you have near you.
