German Snow Dogs

By LynneJoyce
Ventured out with the camera yesterday and today and took a lot of Snowtographs in varying light conditions, so thought I'd post something celebratory and lighthearted to celebrate this big, brave, post-surgical adventure.

We have two German Shepherd Dogs, Helmut (the short coated red sable) and Helga (the long haired dark sable). The breed name is often shortened to GSD and Garrath and I have several interpretations of this - German Supervisory Dog, German Scrounging Dog etc. This set is devoted to another interpretation - German Snow Dogs.

As you can see from the photographs they love it and are working hard at the fine art of snow diving. V1 shows them assiduously picking up messages from one of the many canine message boards, V's 4 & 9 demonstrate that they can behave themselves when required, the rest just show them enjoying the snow. I make no apologies for the leads in the pictures. That's what responsible dog owners do, keep them on the lead.

I'm now exhausted from the walks and the editing, but I do hope that you enjoy at least some of the photographs. Thanks for looking.

Some great shots of your two German Shepherds, Lynne, having a whale of a time in the snow, as V 10, 11 and 13 show with their snow encrusted muzzles.
Lots of snow but the sun was shining....whatever next!

Bravo on getting out and about, Lynne, especially in that snow! And an even bigger bravo for these amazing shots. The two dogs glow BEAUTIFULLY in that light in V1. My favourite here has to be V8, though. Awesome Grin

Good to see you getting out and about despite the weather conditions. Your dogs seem tohave a wonderful time in the snow despite the restraints. Responsible restraints and shows thatthe dogs had a great time with scaring the hell out of people less used to big dogs. Top marks Lynne and a grand set of images too.

Great set of shots Lynne, and have to say that 10, 11 & 13 are my favourites - Frosted German Snow Dogs TongueGrin. I see they are like my dog and like a good roll in the snow - well I thought he did, until I had to clean some nasty brown substance!!!! off his chops last week - not amused. Great to see someone who keeps their big dogs on leads, I do too and could throttle those folk whose dogs appear out of the bushes with no owners in sight!
Oh and do hope you enjoy your wee dram TongueGrin.

Hi Lynne,
Superb shots. I quite enjoy them.. made me laugh. I wonder what Helmut found.. lovely and handsome dogs. I just thought that I saw more German dogs in UK than in Germany.. like Rottwile, I saw them everywhere here, but I 'd been Rottwile twice, I had no memory of seeing them.
Take care, keep well...Smile
