It's Coming!

By LynneJoyce
10 bang up-to-date portents of doom, these are images taken today (24.08.2012) to show that here in West Yorkshire, England, there are already clear signs that Autumn is on its way. Taking them did cause some consternation with an elderly gentleman who obviously could not see the fungi from the pathway upon which he was walking. I thought for a while that he was about to totter over and beat me soundly with his walking stick, but even with my knackered knees, I would have been too quick for him. My worry was that he might destroy the delicate, tiny models that I was photographing. How we suffer for our art!

They have been subjected to various degrees of jiggery-pokery, the montages more than the straight photos, which have just been sharpened and framed. Anyway, I hope you like at least some of them and those of you who live in England, take heed, it is nearly time to buy this year's thermal underwear.

V7 is my favourite from this great set Lynne. Autumn has it's compensations with the lovely colours on offer - but, oh dear, whatever happened to summer?????

There is a definite smell of atumn in the air these days and leaves are starting to develop the autumn colours: a fine set heralding the coming season, Lynne, and if I were pressed to select a winner I think I'd plump for V 6.

Fantastic ,great and lovely set of images,All very beautiful indeed, very well done,
A very finely honed collection of images looking into the now very near future Lynn. Autumn is my favourite short season of the year let's hope it's not blown apart by the winds we had last year.

You can actually smell the change in the air.

Sighhh...I miss seasons...especially autumn in Leeds. Here there are no seasons Sad

Now then...for the fungal shots, V6 is SUPERB. And such cute caps!

My all-time favourite image here has to be V4, though. I LOVE leaves, especially leaves with character AND leaves on white. So 10/10 for that one Smile

Excellent set of shots Lynne, particularly like those leaves in V4. Pity the fungi shots are marred by the vision of an old man beating you to a pulp with his walking stick TongueGrinGrinGrinGrin. I do like autumn with all it's beautiful colours, and the lovely golden light you sometimes get. Moira

I think here in Scotland Lynne,we have missed Autumn,(and Summer too ),and went straight into Winter. I think I have been wearing my thermals since June !! I know that this photography lark can be fraught with danger, but so far I have had no trouble with OAP's trying to batter me with their walking sticks.
I did have an incident in my mispent youth when a crowd of us went on a camping trip once.We decided to liberate some eggs from the henhouse of a nearby farm for our breakfast. As we were coming out,the farmers wife came charging at us with a frying pan.I was about to thank her for her kindness for supplying us with the frying pan too,but my mate who was a bit sharper at thinking than me,said ''RUN'' !! Later on we had a visit from the police who told us to pack up and move on.The police were very kind too. They actually helped us to pack up and even gave us a lift in their van to the nearest bus stop. And they waited like some loving relatives to wave us off as we boarded the bus !!
