Kitchen Macros

By LynneJoyce
Hopefully the last post for a few weeks as, all things (including me) being well, we are off to Spain on Friday morning. I thought I'd give you a rest from Venice and London shots, but there will be more of them to come on my return.

I spotted my main model, the sprig of Cherry Blossom, on the ground while we were walking the dogs and managed to rescue it before it was trampled or wee-ed on! The vase is one of John Lewis's finest egg cups, the light is from the kitchen window and the backgrounds are my kitchen worktop, a lovely dark green carrier bag and a tray of Little Gem lettuce. I was intrigued by the lettuce so I did two portraits of them too - versions 6 & 12.

Versions 9, 10 and 13 have been given a 'painted' treatment which I quite like. The rest are just what they are, experiments in the use of natural light, my macro lens and my kitchen.

I think that this is the best that I am going to get of the cherry blossom this year as it has all been battered by the heavy rains. Thanks for looking and I hope you like at least some of them.

I think you've picked the right image for the front page but I do like the variety you've managed throughout. And the lettuces are lovely too.
My cherry blossom is all over my lawn and the tree is looking very bedraggled.

A fine set from your kitchen Lynne,
but surely it should be Macaroni and not Macro's you should be working with !!
And if you like giving some painted treatment, come up here as this is the time of the year when my wife wants the decorating done.
Dunno about cherry blossom, but I intend to sit on my cherry bottom for that one !!
Have a good holiday in Spain.

A very beautiful collection, Lynne Smile Hope you have a great holiday in Spain - I bet you'll be glad to get away from all this rain! Wink It'll be paellas then now for dinner! Are you allowed to eat those?
Take care, have a great time,

Paellas are fine for me Trev, and as Spanish restaurateurs are almost as good as the Italians with regard to my special dietary needs, I shall enjoy eating out a lot for a change. What's more there's a supermarket chain there that labels everything so I'm safe shopping too. Can't wait until the ticket is just one way.

No wifi in the Spanish house but we do go to cafes where there is wifi so I'll try to check into EPZ regularly.

Wow Lynne, what an excellent set. I think you picked the right shot to open up with, I really like the dark green background. To be honest I find it hard to pick a second favourite. Suffice to say they are all great shots. Have a great holiday and I look forward to your uploads on your return.

Such pretty pink blossom Lynne, unfortunately all ours has been spoiled by all this awful wind and rain. I do hope the weather in continental Europe is better than it is over here and that the rain in Spain is not falling on the plain in the main!

Well I'm no expert on flowers but every one of these could easily have stood alone here. Beautiful light and lovely soft colours. It's amazing what some people can manage in the kitchen in the way of flower photography, very clever indeed. Maybe I'll try it myself soon.

Hope your trip to Spain was good, the weather would have been more stable than here I'm sure, I was up on South Uist for a week and I saw every season including snow on the way there. But I had a great week and will return sometime too.

Interesting set Lynne, a beautiful play. I like V7&1 most.V7 works best with frame, as your recent uploading, V7's lines and the object(flower in this case) creat a kind of attention and movement(more movement on the recent uploading). V1's colour contrast works well...You nearly fooled me on V4Grin...great fun.
