Looking Up

By LynneJoyce
2013 and things are really starting to look up so I thought I'd put together a series with that title - Looking Up - to reflect an upturn in our fortunes and to demonstrate what a wealth of visual goodies are available if only you do just look up.

Re our personal fortunes, Garrath is sufficiently recovered to be able to drive and take the dogs again so I have been able to book my surgery for this Friday, the 11th, which means that I should be recovered by the Spring, my favourite season. That really is an indication of things looking up for us both.

Re the wealth of visual goodies to be had when you look up, well see some of mine for yourself. V1 was taken on the Portsmouth-Bilbao ferry, and I will see if you can work out the rest. Some are obvious, some less so.

Anyway, thank you for looking and I hope you enjoy at least some of them. Not sure if I will be around much after the surgery, but we shall see. There certainly won't be many new photos for a while.

A wonderful set of wonderfully observed images Lynne. When the quality is this good it is very difficult to pick out a particular favourite, however one finds oneself drawn towards images 1, 7 and 9 because their curvaceous form.

Despite it being past Christmas you have some real crackers here, Lynne! V 11 with it's lovely repeat pattern appeals a lot as does V9. The latter pleases me most I think as I can see a face in the 3rd chimney along. Don't tell anyone I said that, as I am going to get a reputation for "seeing things" fairly soon!! Tongue

Delighted indeed by the great news.

A magnificent set, Lynne, but you have definitely led with the best, imo. V.3 looks to me like it was taken in St. Mark's Square, Venice, and I like the architecture in V.6. All the very best for your scheduled surgery on Friday, we will miss your images whilst you are away from ePZ, but look forward to your return as soon as you feel fit and able to do so. And, of course, great news about Garrath, now it'll be his turn to give you a lot of TLC for a few weeks Wink. Carol

What a wide ranging set! Love them all, although V4, V7 and V9 jump out as my favourites! So glad things have improved enough with Garrath that you are now able to sort yourself out! Wishing you both every good healthy wish.

V9 has (of course) a wonderful little face (two, if you include the shadow), V13 is a good angle on one of my favourite sculptures, V15 is a beautifully observed composition. But the star is definitely V1.
Just a thought - I think it could be interesting flipped upside down. (Flipped not rotated, so that the word EXIT would only require a tiny amount of doctoring to read normally...)

I'm so pleased to hear your good news and I wish you all the best for Friday. I like your themed set today - so appropriate and one for us all perhaps. As to a choice? Well, I'm very partial to v1, 7, and particularly 9 (for their amusing faces). Happy days! Smile and I hope to hear good news from your op soon - all the very best Lynne.

1 & 15 for me, Lynne, but a fine selection of neck-crickers. All the best for 11th.

Well that's good news Lynne, another reason to welcome Spring when the corner arrives, but I still have a winter trip to organise and enjoy.
As ever I think you have a few here which deserve a single showing. No 7 is my pick apart from the opener that shows the view when you fall off a bar stool.

All the very best to you both,
Everything on the up, I am pleased to hear it, all the best for the 11th, then lots of TLC coming your way. excellent upward captures, I like best 1/7/9/11/15/but my overall fav is 9. good work Lynne

V1 for me as I am looking forward to seeing it again in the Spring. Also love v7 of the Venetian monorail bridge. Its reminiscent of a dinosaur skeleton!

@Ann; no you are not imagining faces in v9. That's the Bald Eagle from Sesame Street!

Good news then Lynne, keep my fingers crossed for you, a nice selection of photo's, you sure do put them up in one big bang, can't see one that does not appeal, several could be bordering on abstract, V11. & V15. in particular, a very very good set like them all regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin
