Bottled Light

By LynneJoyce
A celebration of the return of light around here and my first ventures with the camera since January, here we have a selection of bottle shots, mostly new, some old shots that fit with the theme and that I think are worth revisiting.

All the shots were hand held, taken in either the spare room studio or back yard studio using natural light now that we have some at last.

The golden bottle contains peanut oil purchased from our favourite online Chinese supermarket. I was so taken by its gorgeous design that I just had to record it photographically.

Yesterday I experimented using the fisheye lens and bottles - great fun - but those shots are for later. For now some 'straight' bottle shots for your delectation.

Thanks for looking and I hope that you enjoy at least some of them.

A most impressive array, and not one of them disappoints. They each could have their own day in the sun. I'm a bit partial to the blue ones.

There are some tremendous opportunities with some of the thicker glass examples for smashing macro images really close in.

I'd be lion through my teeth if i said anything other than the peanut oil bottles were my favourites, although the proud peacock on the bottle in v6 runs them closeGrin A wonderful selection of still life images and you've used the light wonderfully well. It's a pity we can't bottle some of your enthusiasm as well as your light Lynne!Wink

Hmm, very impressive collection of empty bottles in V8, Lynne, I wonder where they all came from..?!
Being in the glass & crystal business, I know a thing or two about the reflections and refractions of light within glass...
... you have mastered the art of photographing glass perfectly - without studio lighting - and hand held. Impressive indeed.
I love the Lion on the various uploads of the peanut oil bottles, what a happy chap to open your cupboard to ..!
All in all, a beautifully presented set of imaginatively lighted bottles and abstact parts.
V4, the watercolour - painted by you, or a very clever piece of computer magic on your behalf?

V2, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 12 could well be treated as another fabulous set, Lynne, as they have more colour. The naked bottles are really exceptional and I love them all, but the processing of V4 is awesome. Wish I could add another to those well deserved UAs.
