Latest Local Lovelies

By LynneJoyce
Still within the immediate vicinity, more wild specimens, this time including teeny weeny ones, V's 2, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 & 14 having flowers that are less than 2mm across. The Mouse-eared Chickweed and Black medick escaped the mowers because they are very, very low growing. The rest owe their survival due to the fact that they are either on the margins where the mower can't reach or near walls.

I have identified the specimens that I can, half identified the Hieracium. There are so many of this genus and I can't be sure exactly which one this is. Hieracium experts among you might be able to help.

Whatever, these images are a testimony to the fact that I am not afraid to set my dignity aside and risk ridicule and inane questions from passers-by by grovelling on the floor and taking shots of these wonderful, wild, miniature marvels. What is it with people who ask you what you are doing? Isn't the great big black camera a bit of a clue?

As ever the exif applies only to the first image. Thank you for looking and I hope that you enjoy at least some of these beauties.

Lynne,
I was bowled over as soon as I saw the first amazing image and then bowled over again with each of the remaining 14 shots.
What a series -- publish a calendar and have 3 shots left over.

The pleasure you've had in photographing and presenting these is invaluable as is the pleasure for us
to marvel at your presentation skills and knowledge of these specimens.
I didn't know holly had flowers so V9 has to a favourite with V1 but for me all are an inspiration.

Perhaps I should play copy cat as I have been photographing many of the same sort of flowers--- and with that I will add that some of these flowers are so tiny one could easily miss them-- A brilliant collection as well as skilled focusing and processing has made a very fine presentation! Like how you labeled them!
