A really excellent portrait. You are lucky that your partner lets you take his picture. My wife won't unfortunately.
This is a wonderful study of light and dark and the textures of the male face. The water, well it looks superb too.

Can I ask what you mean by 'converted to B&W using gradient map'? I've been experimenting with different conversion and toning techniques, and I really like the effect you have achieved here.

Thanks Steve. If you go to Image > Adjustments > Gradient Map and then choose which gradient you want. I always convert it to the B&W gradient then do any colour adjustments in Hue/Saturation afterwards. It's great to use gradient map if you want quite a contrasty image and it works as a separate layer so you can keep going back to the colour original if you want to. Lyns x
