A bit of history.
A little tale - during the same government the Tory Party conference was held one year in the Newcastle City Hall, the manager tells a wonderful story. There was a major security alert when a van driver turned up and announced that he was delivering a consignment of mysterious items described as stotties.
This is a local style of loaf...

The mono has a slightly more menacing appeal 😁

I wonder how modern-day police on bikes arrest people.
"Alright, get in the basket"....?

The thin blue line ... and then there's all those police outside. 🥴 🥴 🥴 I'll get me coat!
Fascinating images; I like both. The mono is menacing and the colour is disturbingly surreal in a way I can't quite put my finger on. There's a lovely detail in the right hand corner with four officers all looking in markedly different directions! The slightly chubby one looks as though he's dreaming of pleasanter things and looking forward to returning home to Letsby Avenue. (I know - and there's no treatment for it. 🥴 )

Black and white suits the flavour of the time (most photo journalism of the time was mono).
I'd like to say the colour adds a human touch but that caan never be with this subject.
Thatcher wasn't prime minister until 1979.

Love Leo’s comment above 🙂🙂 Lovely old cameras the 3F, I used to have a red dial with a timer, great to use, a bit of a faff to load though. Fine images here 🌟 mono for me too.

Very reminiscent of the newspaper pictures of the era; a valuable historic reminder.

Ah, yes. The 70s. Memories of the winters of discontent, union power, miners strikes, Harald Wilson's Gannex mac, Denis Healey's 'Silly Billy'...the list goes on...
