Actually, Sean (thanks Smile I was quite safe, at the bottom of the falls, when taking this shot. It is Albion Falls ,in Hamilton Ontario. It is almost 100 feet deep, but there is a large flat area, at the bottom, where photo bugs like us, can hang, safely. As for Mikey, the chap in the pic, he is standing on a ledge that is 20 feet wide, 60 feet long, and easy to get to. Water is only a few inches deep at this point. It looks treacherous, that is why so many like to get out there and be photographed.
Even parents let their 3 and 4 yr olds play, at the bottom, though I do not recommend it. Rocks do fall, from above at any time.
