I have been hoping to see something from that holiday Tony and I think this one is well worth waiting for. Lots of very fine detail with exposure and focus just about right. Cant say that I have seen this subject on the site before.

Like the initial subject in this portrait but the whites in the background are distracting and want darkening down to make the suject stand out more in the frame, personally myself, being ultra critical i would of removed his thumb from the bottom of the frame and spent a little more time cleaning the image up to make it a bit more than a simple snapshot.

Hi Stu

Yes, you're right of course. This is just a holiday snapshot, one of a bunch I've been processing over the wet weekend. If I do anything more with it I'll take your advice and take out the highlights and thumb.

Many thanks, Tony

Its a very dramatic shot, nice exposure, great pose.

I would suggest a tighter crop, - brighten the eyes a little and add small catch lights; sharpen a little; and try a larger frame as in the mod. I also darkened the area behind his neck which is a little distracting,

regards

Hi Willie

Many thanks for your critique, much appreciated. As I mentioned earlier, this is just one of many snapshots I took on the recent vacation. I'll make your suggested changes if I enter it into a future camera club competition. Not sure if and when that will happen!

Best regards, Tony
