I love this, Ivan. You've caught the stillness of the water beautifully, and the exposure is spot-on. I'm wondering what this might look like with some of the foreground cropped away.

Its nice, - but I would suggest a crop with the log lower down, and more sky might look better?

Brings back memories of a couple of weeks spent on the Ardverikie Estate in pre "Monarch" days! A stunning spot and well captured here. Don't be tempted to touch it, more than fine as it is.

Thanks everyone for your comments, much appreciated.

This is one of those rare occasions where the picture is exactly as composed 'in camera' no cropping at all, just a touch on contrast/brightness.

It can be done, even with a digi. LoL
Ardverikie Estate is a lovely place, excellent for landscape workers and and a good area for seeing the 'natural' rugged Scottish landscape.

I considered cropping the FG, but decided against it as it destroys the sense of space and open-ness of the area.

Beautiful image, I think I would have positioned the shot with the log a little lower in the frame but thats just me :0)

Just goes to show what you can do with a digital compact.
Very atmospheric.
Countryfile on BBC1 said the theme for this years photo competition is water, should be worth a punt with this one.
Keep them coming

It's not the camera but the photographer that makes the picture. But I suppose you'll disagree being old.
All the best

OLD???????????????????????????

Cheek!

I'm not old I've just been around longer than most people.

By the way I do agree with your comment.

PS. Dave (Daiprice), as you suggested,I did enter it in the BBC comp.
Result: ZILCH!

Proves what a lousy judge you are. L0L
