A horse, of course...

Mustang Million...every year a contest is held for anyone that adopts a Mustang through the government land management bureau. Trainers have 100 days to break and train feral horses. Apparently over 30,000 horses and burros roam throughout some of the western United States and since they have no na...

Pow Wow

Went to a Pow Wow over the weekend-arts and crafts and dancing competitions. Treated myself to a small sand painting just because I liked it. Painting by Wayne Watchman out of Grey Wolf gallery (.com- t.h.u.d.) Watched some young kids practicing for their competitions. And took a lot o...

Have decided to start combining my photos and my quilting to see what I can come up with. Haven't quite decided how t...

Finally got around to getting the Lightroom software:) There just aren't enough hours in the day... Having a good time playing around with all the pre-loaded presets right now. Wish I was independently wealthy so I could just play all day:)

Old friend

Went to Houston last week-had the opportunity to re-visit one of my favorite murals, "Rebirth of Our Nationality" by Leo Tanguma. It was originally 18' high by 240' wide and completed in 1973. It was probably the late 80's when I first discovered it. Sadly, large sections of it is go...

No photography

I told myself no photography this weekend- I have to get the latest quilt top finished up. Of course I drove to the lake to work on the quilt top. And I had to drive past the farmers fields to get there... Seems like more and more farmers are planting sunflowers or maybe I just don't remember fro...

250 million years ago

Arches National Park- Utah. Salt Valley This area was covered with saltwater about 250 million years ago- in some places it,(the salt), is still several thousand feet thick. Thinking I should've used the ND9 instead of the polarizing filter...ah well, next trip maybe.

ghost ranch

1,000 years ago when I was learning how to paint- I'd often copy paintings from famous artists including Georgia O'Keefe. Her work has been amongst my favorites for a long time- what a treat it was to visit her Ghost Ranch in New Mexico! The views were incredible and I am already planning a return...

cameras, kindle, deodorant

My Mom called me up about 6 weeks ago- would I like to help her drive from Texas to California so she can visit her sisters? Sure! Oh, and we will stop by Georgia O'Keefe's Ghost Ranch and the Loretto chapel along the way. And Mesa Verde, The Arches National Park, Sunset Crater, the Painted De...

Went to an outdoor art show this weekend- lots of great stuff to see. One artist, (Andrew Carson) had a display of his kinetic sculptures, a colorful and to me a fanciful blend of mechanics powered by the wind. Interesting to learn his degree was in photography. Beautiful weekend here- bluebo...

Stumbled across a Native American festival/market last weekend-got to see a hoop dancer perform! He dances in time to the drum/music while manipulating the hoops in various configurations - telling a story with the forms he makes. Off to the lake for the weekend- time for the butterflies to migrat...

birds...in flight

I participate in a family photo challenge-every year we have 12 themes and the year to complete them. Birds was on the list last year-not something I have tried before. YUCK. My respect for bird photographers went up tenfold! Worked all last year trying to get an interesting shot that didn't inclu...
