Nice composition.
Not sure what is on the surface but I would make sure that it's 100% clean as not to detract from the final image.
Would also suggest on future uploads that you upload larger images as this is almost half the size as it can be (600 pixels). The bigger the image, the easier it is for people to get a better look to advise you.

This has so much potential, but as per both above comments is let down by the dusty surface and the sloping background. IMO I'd also look for a completely "clean" background as I think the vertical lines are distracting.

A couple of points that I think would improve the image:
1) It needs straightening, as the image is sloping to the left.
2) The lens (or sensor) looks like it needs a clean, as there are dust spots on the image
3)I would clone out the bits (or specks) on the surface to the left of the fruit.
4) Don't give up, as we are all striving to improve, and this image has promise.
