It's a nice idea, but I would probably have done a little gardening around it and removed the blades of grass in front of the dandelion to get a clean shot of it. Also the blue and yellow in the background, while nicely out of focus, are a little distracting (blue more than yellow)

Hi maggie, nice composition on this but a few things need working on.
The focus is right on the front of the dandelion head rather than the stalk (these are very difficult to get right by the way) so it would seem you have the camera on auto? Try going into Apature priority, this will give you control on DOF(depth of field), look in the techniques drop down for further info. A little bit of tidying up was needed before the shot was taken to get rid of those blades of grass.
Please don't be discouraged, this is a hard skill to learn, but when mastered, you will be so pleased at the results.
