Orange

By magnus
A first foray into the realms of fully manual shooting. Bright sunlight was picking out this flower by an area of deep shadow.

1/125s
f/22
iso 800

I was experimenting with various settings and just liked this one.

iso 800 for no better reason than I forgot to change it!

Any comments appreciated - especially concerning manual settings.

You explained the ISO800, because I was going to say the obvious. Otherwise, very nicely done. Like it a lot - even better at ISO100.

The lighting on this is beautiful and the orange flowers really seem to glow. I assume the lack of detail is caused by the accidental ISO-800, though it could also be due to some diffraction at the very narrow aperture.

By way of a mod, I tried a different crop but I don't think it's significantly better or worse than the original. I also sharpened a bit (USM, radius 0.7, strength 50).

Nice shot. The lighting makes it a very powerful photo and almost looks like there is a torch shining down on it.
Well done.
