RED PHALAROPE ( Grey Phalarope )... Phalaropus fulicarius

This bird is in adult winter plumage, it was a fairly long stayer 4/5 weeks on the banks of the River Thames at Crossness Reserve, London....taken on the 20.04.07.
A passage migrant that was migrating from its breeding grounds in the Arctic and heading for its winter stay in Africa which got blown off track..
I was hoping it was going to stay a bit and moult in to its summer plumage !! super looking bird especially the females..

If it was migrating from its breeding grounds to spend the winter in Africa on 20th April it was certainly very confused! It's a great capture anyway.
