Who's the Daddy??

By Maiwand
Red Deer Stag (cervus elaphus)
A recent shot of a Red Deer Stag (or Hart as they are sometimes called) during a very recent visit to Bushy Park. A very cold and misty morning that made most of my shots much too soft and hazy. After following this beast and listening to his bellowing for quite some time he was kind enough to position himself in a patch of sunlight which enabled me a shot or two with some clarity.
Very interesting and atmospheric when the mist came back down and the Park was full of the calling of love lorn Stags trying to exercise some control over their ladies. Quite exciting for a while.
Hope you will enjoy looking.
Thanks so much for all the very flattering c/c's on the Hawker. Very generous. Particular thanks are due to Steve (sparrowhawk) for the User Award.

Ron

That is you of course Ron!Grin I bet you told him in a Ray Winstonesque voice to pipe down as you were trying to enjoy a peaceful walk through the park and your quiet enjoyment was being rudely shattered!Wink In all seriousness this is an outstanding image of this magnificent animal putting on a show of strength. I'm hoping to get some images of the rut at the end of next week from Ashton Court Estate in Bristol, you've set the bar really high and given me something to aspire to
